Some of the best people I know are NOT from New Jersey… they’re Scottish, actually, Glasweegians… and this is what happened, when New Jersey’s finest has been meeting Glasgow’s best for the last time… In my humble opinion, probably one of the best audiences all over Europe (YES, Scottland actually IS a part of Europe!)…

TONIGHT only: SOUTHSIDE JOHNNY & THE ASBURY JUKES’ opening of their Euro Extravaganza 2011 at the Renfrew River Ferry, Glasgow… I can’t be there, other commitments, you know… but I know quite a few very good people who will and I know they’ll be making me proud of them – again!

It’s been a tough day for any friend or fan of the Jersey Shore music, to learn about the passing of Kevin Kavanaugh. Original keyboarder to Southside Johnny & The Asbury Jukes for more than 15 years, first class session man to many, all around good man, nice guy and creator/owner of some of the signature sounds of the Jersey Shore…

That piano intro on “Love On The Wrong Side Of Town” by Southside Johnny & the Asbury Jukes will get people up on the dance floor by it’s second note already, on any night, anywhere between Long Island and Philly, even 34 years after the song originally has been published on the Jukes’ second album “This Time It’s For Real”…

Written by Bruce Springsteen & Steven van Zandt, Kevin really made this song his own, just by the power of his piano and his wonderful chorus lines.

The Asbury Jukes had many, many members in their history spanning over 4 decades. But on the keyboard position they had an amazing continuity. Kevin was the first in a line of only three artists on that chair. Only the finest gentlemen, all three of ‘em altogether. Neither Rusty Cloud nor Jeff Kazee would mind me calling Kevin the “one and only”.

Since it is Gundula’s birthday today, and since there is no other band to be held responsible for connecting our two lifelines more than Southside Johnny & the Asbury Jukes, it seems to be only appropriate that WE’RE HAVIN’ A PARTY! :-)

We wouldn’t be together, I wouldn’t be writing this blog, without them…
We just seriously love the Jukes with all our heart & soul…
